Scrap Saturday: Europe again

 

I know, I know...its really not Saturday. But I made this page ages ago, so it all balances out, right? (I don't think I have shown you this yet, but if I have just pretend its new *wink*) When I made my mini, book I had photos cut that ended up not being used, so I created a "top ten" page. But then the photos weren't working right, so it became a "top nine" page...hey, I'm original. Who makes a Top Nine page??

 I used lots of letter stickers and the Slice International Travel card to create most of this page. Super simple!

 I made this card for the Moxie Fab World Challenge: I want to ride my bike. And it almost makes me want to ride my bike...almost. Maybe if I lived somwhere cooler and it didn't feel like a sauna when I walked out the door... maybe then I would ride my bike, but I doubt it. I don't like exercise *wink*. I try but I never like it.

This card was three days in the making. I sanded and distressed the cloud paper, pierced and colored around the clouds. I used the banner in A Muse Happy Everything set to paper piece the sun. The road was made with the Fancy border set- hurry and grab one they are on sale now. And of course, the bicycle and sentiment are part of the Vintage set.

It's such a happy little card!

 

what's up?

I love this little kite stamp from the A Muse Vintage set.  And I love it even more when paper pieced with gingham. Its just a happy little stamp for a happy little card. I used the Slice again to make the scalloped cirlce.

Does anyone else have this problem? I make cards and then NEVER mail them. Sometimes I even have them in and envelope ready to go, but still they don't get mailed. What's up with that??

Scrap Saturday: When in Rome

As you can imagine, I have thousands of photos from my Europe trip with Heather. Sadly though, I have have made very few scrap pages from the trip- like, maybe one. I did make a mini book though. Which just makes me say "I don't need to make scrap pages cuz I have a mini book. Anyway I have all these photos that Heather took of me in various locations doing cheesey, touristy things, so I thought I would put them all *well not all* on one page.  If you have never traveled with a photographer, it can be a bit daunting at first. There is a camera in your face at all times, but after a while you kinda get use to and I am so happy that I now have all the photos.

I used the Fancy Border set to make journaling lines. The scallop circle is cut from a piece of Swiss Red using my handy dandy Slice. Love that little machine *wink*!

Scrap Saturday: Love

5 1/2 years in the making! That's pretty much the story of this page. It has tormented and teased me since I had the idea to make a scrapbook for Connor. He was born before I began scrapbooking or taking tons of photos. Since his scrabook is the story of him, I knew this would be the first page anyone looking at it would see. (Though I have strict orders to not show his book to anyone *wink*) I can't even tell you how many times I have started this page only to put it all away again. The excuses were many; "I don't have a great photo", "I don't know what to journal", "I don't like baby themed products", and many, many more. Since deciding that his book would be somewhat of a love letter, what better way to begin the book than a *love* themed page.

This is not at all the page I had in mind when I started, but I absolutely love it. It's all about the story again. I began with grey cardstock and a piece of Stampin Up patterened paper and slowly gathered other materials to match. And, of course I had to throw in a little A Muse.

I was just playing around with some ink and a stamp when this card happened.  I was tring to see to what different effects I could create depending on how much ink I applied to the stamp and how much pressure I used when stamping. With Memento inks, I generously applied ink to the flower and stamped it onto scrap paper before the card. All the extra ink gave it a water color-y effect...yes that's a word!

Time to chillax...that's the Tuesday trigger for this week. From concept to finish, this card took less than 5 minutes. Can't beat that.

trigger happy...

I knew that would get you attention. The Tuesday Trigger challenges over on Moxie Fab blog are always great for bringing back the mojo. Or if you are smart, you do them every week and mojo doesn't take long vacations. Every Tuesday, I check out the challenge even if I don't make the time to do it. While this week's trigger had a bridal theme, I just went with the color combinations. I stamped the first (middle)  dandelion directly onto the paper after inking it up with rouge and olive pastel chalk ink. For the other two, I stamped onto a scrap paper before stamping the card to make them lighter. A few twinkle stickers and a sentiment and ta DAAAA.

What is your opinion of dandelions? Do you treat them as weeds or do enjoy their beauty and pick them to blow across the yard?  

Scrap Saturday

In an effort to actually make more than one page a year for Connor's scrapbook, I am starting Scrap Saturday. This will hopefully motivate me to at least create one page a week. One small step at a time. These photos were taken with my phone, so they aren't the best quality. But I absolutely love them. They are a little snippet of the story of us. 

While I have made some pages of events, I have decided to make his scrapbook a 'love letter', if you will, from me to him. It has made journaling so much easier and more meaninful. I don't want just a book full of birthday, holidays, and events. I want stories, dreams, hopes, and maybe a little wisdom along the way.

Journaling:

"Our adventures are some of my favorite times with you. After many years of adventures, we definitely have a few favorites. Suwanee Town Center tops the list now. Library, fire & police stations, playground, water fountain, and a stop for our favorite treat- Rita's Italian Ice. I hope that you never forget these moments and never get too old to take adventures with Aunt Michelle"

Notice the blue ribbon? Well it wasn't blue to begin with. It was a plain white ribbon. I used Copic B37 to make it the color I wanted. After rummaging through my ribbon drawer and not finding anything that would work, I finally remembered that little trick.

(While writing this, I got a great idea for my next page. whoohoo! love when that happens)

A Muse school lined paper makes journaling a breeze. I used a stamp from the personal stationery set to fill in some of the white space at the top.
 

get'n sketchy

In an effort to find my mojo, I decided to do a few challenges. The first one I did was a sketch challenge over on Splitcoaast Stampers. This was completely opposite of my usual card making work flow. I had the entire card temporarily put together before deciding which stamps I would use. Challenges are so great to get you out of  your creative 'box' and thinking differently.
